Mel's Place

Mel Botes - Mel's Place Plettenberg Bay

In the short time since opening in 2019, Mel’s Place has deservedly earned its place as both a sought- after tourist attraction and a home away from home for local friends to meet.

Located in the beautiful Garden Route coastal town of Keurboomstrand, Plettenberg Bay- the key to its phenomenal success is the perfect combination of ambiance, live music, good wholesome food paired with local wines and the creation of a cultural village.

Arts and culture, open fire dining, live music and the most famous afrikaans rock star of them all… Get on the Highway to Mels and join us for a purely South African experience, 10 minutes outside Plett.

Come and experience the only Open Fire Diner in the Garden Route! At Mel’s Place, our restaurant has a passion for celebrating the art of food and cooking, combined with a dash of culture.

Our rebellious menu and adventurous cooking style is guaranteed to create a unique dining experience. Or if you’d prefer to stay in tonight, why not grab a take-away…

Choose between one of our rustic pizza’s, or order a main dish from The Open Fire Diner menu. Our dishes are a blend of South African, German, and Mediterranean Cuisine.

In association with The Barnyard Theatre Plettenberg Bay, Mels Place hosts live music events every night from Wednesday – Saturday.

Be sure to visit our events calendar to keep an eye out for open shows, or to book your table for our ticketed events.

You’ll often see the man himself taking the stage, usually accompanied by his equally talented son on drums. Together they form a formidable duo bound to get you on your feet.

In association with The Barnyard Plettenberg Bay, Mel’s Place hosts both local and international performances. This location is unrivalled when it comes to good music, good food, good art, and memorable experiences.

An eclectic art gallery Mel-style, showcasing art for every taste –  from abstract to realism.

Situated in the coffee shop, the gallery features work by some of Plettenberg Bay’s top artists and is the home of the Plettenberg Bay Arts Association, which is a branch of SANAVA.

The art gallery is hosted by the award winning Tracey Mae, who is also the chair of the local arts association. She has gathered the finest local talent and their work is on displayed on site.

In staying true to our love for art in all its different forms, we will be hosting regular cultural performances and events. Be sure to check our events schedule as your tickets will need to be booked in advance.

As an integral part of our village, Ina welcomes you to her gorgeous retail shop offering a beautiful selection of stylish, soft and one of a kind beach kaftans and dresses.

Also on display are a range of beach bags, jewelry, footwear, perfumes and much more.

A treasure chest and real treat filled with beautiful wares, well worth a visit to spoil yourself or for gifts to take home to your loved ones.
